Angkor Archaeological Park Sees Significant Surge in Foreign Tourist Numbers

Phnom Penh, April 1, 2024 – In a remarkable display of recovery and growth, Cambodia's iconic Angkor Archaeological Park has recorded a substantial increase in foreign tourist arrivals in the first quarter of this year. According to the latest report by Angkor Enterprise, the park saw 385,769 international visitors, marking a year-on-year increase of 47 percent.

This influx of tourists has significantly boosted the park's revenues, with entrance ticket sales generating US$16.5 million, reflecting a 48 percent surge compared to the same period last year. The month of March alone witnessed a notable rise in both revenue and visitor numbers, with ticket sales reaching US$5.2 million from 111,684 foreign tourists, indicating increases of 41 and 40 percent respectively.

Ticket pricing remains unchanged, with a one-day pass to the park priced at US$37, a three-day pass at US$62, and a week-long pass available for US$72. These tickets offer access to one of Cambodia's most treasured historical sites, sprawling over 401 square kilometers in Siem Reap province. The Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1992, continues to be Cambodia's premier attraction, drawing visitors from around the globe to its stunning temples and monuments.

The substantial rise in tourism revenue from the park to US$37.19 million last year – a 222 percent increase from 2022 – underscores the enduring allure of Angkor's ancient wonders and Cambodia's growing appeal as a top tourist destination in Southeast Asia.
